Stop Smoking Service – For help and support in giving up smoking please book an appointment with Sam.
Contraceptive Services – Mrs Iyabo Obisesan (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) is fully trained to give advice on the various contraceptions available. Please book a convenient appointment to discuss this matter. Dr A Obisesan specialises in long acting contraception (such as coils and implants) which can be fitted within the surgery. Please book an appointment with Dr Obisesan to discuss your options further.
Cervical Smears – These are carried out by the nurse
Minor Surgery – Dr A Obisesan carries out regular minor surgery clinics. Conditions that can be treated in the surgery are:
- Excision of skin lesions
- Joint injections
- Coils & Implants
Health Check Service: All patients aged between 40 and 74 are eligible for a full health check. Please contact the surgery or book an appointment with one of our Healthcare Assistants.
Dementia Clinic - On the first Thursday of the month there will be a dementia clinic at the surgery for Patients with new or on-going diagnosis and carers. Please call to book an appointment for advice and help.
Asthma – Patients with asthma require regular reviews. Dominique is our Practice Nurse specialising in the management of asthma. You will be regularly invited for a review of your condition by the practice. If you have any concerns regarding your asthma you can book an appointment with her at any time.
Diabetes –Regular reviews are required for all diabetic patients. Sam is our Healthcare Assistant who carries out routine diabetic reviews. Dr A Obisesan will see patients requiring further management.
Maternity – This clinic is held on a Thursday Morning by the community midwife. Please ask a receptionist should you require an appointment.
Blood taking service: Clinics are offered throughout the week. All blood tests must be carried out before 11:30 each day. Please book an appointment with a Healthcare Assistant. We are able to take blood from children as young as 6 years old, however this is at the discretion of the nurse/doctor. Children may be referred to Paediatric Phlebotomy at Colchester General Hospital where appropriate.
Travel Immunisations – Please check www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk for information on what vaccinations you are likely to need for your destination. Please then book a 20 minute appointment with our practice nurse 6-8 weeks before you travel. There may be a charge for some vaccinations. Please note we are not a yellow fever centre, the nearest is Ambrose Avenue Surgery. Some travel vaccinations/medication are ordered on a private prescription and these will incur a charge. Not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
