Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using the Accurx service.

Stop smoking service

For help and support with giving up smoking, please call to book an appointment with one of our nurses.

Contraceptive services

Mrs Iyabo Obisesan (advanced nurse practitioner) is fully trained to give advice on the various contraception’s available. Please book a convenient appointment to discuss this matter. Dr A Obisesan specialises in long acting contraception (such as coils and implants) which can be fitted within the surgery. Please call to enquire about our long acting contraception service with Dr A Obisesan.

Cervical smears

These are carried out by the nurse.

Minor surgery

Dr A Obisesan carries out regular minor surgery clinics. Conditions that can be treated in the surgery are:

  • Excision of skin lesions
  • Joint injections
  • Coils and Implants

Health check service

All patients aged between 40 and 74 are eligible for a full health check. Please contact the surgery or book an appointment with one of our healthcare assistants.

Asthma

Patients with asthma require regular reviews. Our practice nurses and healthcare assistants specialise in the management of asthma. You will be regularly invited for a review of your condition by the practice. If you have any concerns regarding your asthma you can book an appointment with her at any time.

Diabetes

Regular reviews are required for all diabetic patients. Samantha Juniper is our Healthcare Assistant who carries out routine diabetic reviews. Dr A Obisesan will see patients requiring further management.

Travel immunisations

Please check www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk for information on the vaccinations you are likely to need for your destination. Please then book a 20 minute appointment with our practice nurse 6 to 8 weeks before you travel. There may be a charge for some vaccinations. Please note we are not a yellow fever centre, the nearest is Ambrose Avenue Surgery. 

Some travel vaccinations/medication are ordered on a private prescription and these will incur a charge. Not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Children’s councilor

We are now working with a children’s councilor who can see children from 4 to 18 Years old to help with, anxiety, anger, confidence, depression, trauma, OCD, self harm, young carers, autism, ADHD*.

Please book an appointment with one of our clinicians who can arrange a referral for you.

Phlebotomy/blood taking

Please book an appointment with a healthcare assistant. We are able to take blood from children as young as 6 years old, however this is at the discretion of the nurse/doctor. Children may be referred to paediatric phlebotomy at Colchester General Hospital where appropriate.
